We regret to report the passing of Chuck Moyer on August 17, 2026. Chuck was an active member of New Bloomfield Fire Company in the early 2000s before moving to the Mifflintown area in Juniata County. At the time of his passing, he served with Mifflintown Hose Company. Trainees and current drivers spent additional time operating the Tanker, practicing drafting water through the rear intake from a portable fold-a-tank. Engine 8 was also utilized to draft water from the pond, supplying water to the new Rescue, which then pumped and refilled the fold-a-tank for the Tanker.

Rescue 8, EMS 89, and Medic 1 responded to a vehicle accident just south of the firehouse. Emergency crews arrived to find several parked cars that had been struck by a vehicle entering town after missing the turn. The driver remained inside the vehicle but was not trapped.
