Open House At Station 8 / 11:00 am--2:00 pm

The Firefighters of Station 8 would like to thank everyone who came out for our Open House! We were excited to see everyone and hope you enjoyed the day.

If you came out to see us, drop a comment with your favorite part of our open house! Was it running the Jr Firefighter Combat Challenge? Going on a ride in the fire trucks? Learning about pet safety? Coloring our custom coloring pages? Meeting Rosenbauer? We'd love to hear all about it so we can make sure to have it again for next year, or maybe even incorporate certain things into our other events.

We had a good amount of entries for the coloring contest and will be posting them this upcoming week on our Facebook page, so you can vote for your favorite.

Thanks to all the NBFD members who helped, and Halie for spearheading this project.

Thanks also to Ickesburg Fire and CR concessions for providing food.

Remember to stay safe out there!

Training

Blain Fire Company recently hosted a grain bin safety training session attended by members from Blain, Landisburg, Liverpool, Millerstown, New Bloomfield, Newport, Shermans Dale, and Newville fire companies. The training began with a brief review of procedures, followed by hands-on exercises. A grain and soybean bin was used to simulate a scenario involving a person trapped inside the bin, allowing responders to practice rescue techniques in a realistic setting.

Special thanks to Hickory Farms for allowing this training on their farm and Blain Fire Co for hosting.

Storm Related Calls

As severe storms exited the area, multiple Perry County fire companies were dispatched to address several electrical hazards reported throughout the County. Many incidents involved trees that had fallen onto power or telephone lines. Station 8 responded to three separate calls involving these types of hazards.
