| Pete is a master when it comes to building anything, including carnival stands. We are very fortunate to have to Pete around NBFD.
What year did you join NBFD?: "2003" ( 22 years of service to date ) Also a member of Union Fire Co. 41 of Carlisle, PA.( 62 years to date )
Did you hold any fire or administration positions?: Active firefighter, building, and Sportman's raffle committees, and always helping at fundraising events.
What is the most memorable emergency that you responded to?: The Cumberland Savings and Loan and bowling alley fire in Carlisle. We were at the scene for over 16 hours.
Why did you join the Fire Company?: "We had a fire at our property growing up and I ran over to see what I could do to help. I helped with moving the hose lines around, and after the fire was out a fireman said that I should join and become a member. So that's what I did...went in to Union and put my application in."
What is the biggest change you have seen?: "The equipment, and the amount of younger people not joining. I believe the amount of required training you have to have in today's fire service....the time that is involved makes it hard."
Pete is our go to guy for hanging pictures, TV's, white boards, banners, award plaques, and anything else that needs put up in the new firehouse. He was also the ringleader in hosting breakfast for members in the new station. You will find him at most if not all events along with his wife, Ruth.
Pete was voted in as a life member this year. He may have started later in life with NBFD, but has dedicated so much of his time to the Company.
Thanks Pete, for everything you have done and continue to do. |
