Newport has been celebrating their 100 years of service with different events starting this past Sunday evening. Wednesday evening was fire expo night. Newport invited all Perry County Companies to bring a rig so the community could see area fire apparatus. There also was a firefighter challenge. Five teams participated; Ickesburg, Landisburg (2 teams), New Bloomfield and Newport. With temps in the high 90s, all teams did a great job. First place went to Landisburg Nolt boys with a time of 2 min, 12 seconds. New Bloomfield placed second with a time of 2 min and 24 seconds. 3rd place went to Newport and 4th place to Landisburg's Jr. team.

Hats off to New Bloomfield's team, consisting of Scott Kerstetter, Frank Manslow, Mike Sheaffer and John Flemming. Station 8 is proud of your accomplishments!
