| Members from New Bloomfield, Ickesburg and New Buffalo Fire Companies took part in a 16 hour Rural Fireground Water Movement class hosted by NBFD. This class consisted of classroom work during 2 evenings and a full day Saturday at Station 8. A dump and fill site were set up, starting with 1 fold a tank then adding tanks as we wanted to increase the flow rate. A flow rate of 910 gpm was successful using 4 tankers and 3 fold a tanks. After this a 5 inch supply line was then used to go over relay pumping to finish the day.
This class would not be possible without the assistance from other companies. We would like to thank Ickesburg, Newport and Thompsontown for bringing Tankers, and Blain and New buffalo for their Engines.
Thanks to all the members for giving time and taking this class, and also Matt Boyce and Tim Waltemyer for teaching. |
