| On Saturday members from New Bloomfield and Ickesburg Fire Companies had a class involving electric vehicle fires at Station 8. Members had the opportunity to practice many techniques including an under body cooling nozzle, and a side vehicle lift to expose the batteries for hose line cooling. Also used our battery Amkus rescue tools with hose line protection to do an extrication with SCBA. Thanks to both companies and their members for coming to this training.
Also today Engine 8 was involved with a state certified structural burn class that Sherman's Dale Fire Co hosted. Members from companies 12, 4, 6, and Union of Carlisle had personnel taking part with the interior burn scenarios.
Engine 8 drafted from a fold-a-tank and pumped a 5 inch line to supply Engine 12 for fire attack during the burn. Tankers from 12, 6, 4, and CC 39 had the job of shuttling water, and an Engine from Blain (1-1) had a fill site established by a nearby creek for filling tankers. Also an air unit out of Carlisle Station 45 was on scene filling cylinders. Thanks to Company 12 for hosting and lunch. Drone Photo Credit: Charles Theiman and Chris Strolls
